Thank you for choosing Shy's Place for your next dining experience.  We hope to answer any questions you may have with our reservation system below.

 It is our goal to provide our guests with the best dining experience possible.

COVERED + OPEN PATIO DINING

RESERVATIONS RECOMMENDED
 

 Although we will always try to accommodate any guest who joins us, we may not be able to seat walk-in guests.

We strongly recommend making a reservation in advance. 

 

Your reservation will only be considered confirmed once you have spoken directly to someone on our hostess team via phone, or through e-mail confirmation, or through TOCK

Parties of 5+ cannot book through TOCK and can contact the restaurant directly for availability.

Please note all parties of 5+ will have an automatic 20% gratuity applied to the final bill after taxes.

Our seating is limited to 6 guests per table maximum.

 

Please be sure to arrive at your scheduled reservation time. We are meticulously organizing our reservations to avoid any crowding at our main entrance / exit. 

 

We will happily hold your table for a maximum of 15 minutes.

After 15 minutes if we do not hear from you, you will be considered a no-show.
Please be sure to give us a call/ email if you are running late so we can do our best to accommodate you. 

CANCELLATION POLICY

All in house bookings will require a credit card on file in the event of a no-show, or alteration/cancellation of your reservation with less than 24 hours notice.

You are able to transfer your reservation to another guest.

There will be a $40 per person fee applied to the card on file in the event of no-show/cancellation with less than 24 hours notice.

 

All bookings on TOCK will require a deposit to be pre-paid.

Once your reservation has been made on TOCK, you will not be able to alter it. You will have to contact us directly to make any changes.

The deposit will be deducted from your final bill.

Deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE.

WE DO NOT DISCRIMINATE AGAINST MASK EXEMPTIONS.

Guests and staff members are welcome to join us regardless of their mask exemption status and we will not violate medical privacy by asking for proof of ANY medical information. 

We have staff that are mask exempt and any discriminatory treatment towards staff or other guests will not be tolerated.

We strive to create an inclusive and safe environment for our guests and staff. 

Our staff is not permitted to ask any guest about their private medical information, and we require our guests to respect our staff's medical privacy as well.

Shy's Place will not disclose any private information regarding our staff.**

CANCELLATION POLICY

 

If booking a reservation directly in house, we will require a credit card on file for to confirm your reservation. There will be a $40 per person charge applied in the event of a no-show, change to number of guests, or cancellation with less than 24 hours notice*The cancellation policy  applies to same-day reservations as well.

*large parties will require 48-72 hours notice for change/cancellation

Reservations made through TOCK will require a non-refundable deposit to book. 

This deposit will be applied to your final bill.

We will treat this deposit like a GIFT CARD in the event your final bill is less than your deposit.

If you have booked your reservation on our "Covered Patio Experience" your reservation will be rain or shine. 

If you have booked our "Uncovered Patio Experience" in the event of dangerous weather we may have to cancel/reschedule your reservation. In the event of dangerous weather, we will have indoor seating available for those who are comfortable. 

In the event that the restaurant cancels your reservation, there will be no cancellation fee. 

 

SEATING TIMELines

     

 All tables will be advised of a time line for dining. These timelines are as follows: 

All tables will be allotted 1.5 hours to dine.

Timelines in place to allow us to accommodate as many guests as possible to join us, and to ensure we are able to have enough time to clean and reset tables without causing any crowding. Please respect your timeline to ensure we can seat arriving guests promptly.

Mobility

Our venue has two levels with no accessible entrance to the SECOND floor. Our seating consists of a mix of bar height and standard height dining tables and chairs.

If there are any mobility restrictions or concerns it is the guests responsibility to alert our team so we can best accommodate you. 

Face Coverings

As per the City of Hamilton By-Law 20-155, a mask or face covering is required in enclosed public spaces. As per this by-law, it is stated "it is vital that no member of the public be denied entry or stigmatized if they are unable to wear a mask or face covering due to a listed exemption." We DO NOT discriminate against mask exempt individuals.

We have staff members who have mask exemptions and may be serving your table without a face covering.

By booking a reservation with us you agree that you and your guests are comfortable with our non-discriminatory policy.

patio

We have two patio experiences available.

All patio dining is to be booked at the the guests own risk. 

Our covered patio experience provides shelter overhead from rain & most sun, but we cannot guarantee any temperature control or full coverage from rain or sun. Reservations made on our covered patio experience are considered rain or shine. 

Our uncovered patio experience will be a little more weather dependant however please note we will not make the call to close patio service unless absolutely necessary. We have personal umbrellas available for guests in the event of heavy rain. If weather becomes too uncomfortable to dine through, we will happily pack up your food for you to go.

In the event our team decides to shut down service on the open patio, we will contact you to let you know, and the cancellation policy would not apply. 

As with all outdoor dining, we cannot guarantee full shade, full sun, or full coverage from the elements and there is no temperature control. 

Guests seated on the patio will not be able to go indoors in the event of inclement weather.
