Meet The Chef
Mike Speer is Owen Sound born, with a passion for food bred into him from his Chef Father. He began his professional culinary journey in Victoria BC, where he found his love for scratch made food, authentic service, and BRUNCH. After 28 years in kitchens all across the country, a successful run with 494 food truck, Shy’s Place is his firstborn restaurant. His life revolves around Shy’s and his 3-year-old son, Luke. His mission is to provide homemade comfort food classics served with surprising twists and to have every guest who walks in the front door of Shy’s Place, walk out feeling like family.

Excellent food and service. The food is fresh and flavourful, and portions are generous. The waitstaff were all friendly and attentive. We ordered the baked artichoke linguine and steak marsala linguine. The freshly-made pasta is fantastic. We enjoyed every bite. We will be back!
